AUSTIN, TX --- JUNE 28, 2022 -- Spot, the injury insurance startup that’s building a new way to cover medical bills, brings on former Brex Chief Product Officer Zach Abrams to their Board of Directors.
After three years as Chief Product Officer at Brex and two years as Head of Product - Consumer at Coinbase, Zach will bring a wealth of experience to Spot, as the company looks to scale its product and unique distribution approach.
“Zach’s experience scaling product at Brex and Coinbase demonstrates his ability to build teams and create best-in-class experiences for users and partners,” said Maria Goy, co-CEO of Spot. “We’re thrilled to have him on our board as we look to bring affordable coverage to the millions of people who want to live a little more without the fear of getting hurt or debilitating medical bills.”
“Health coverage is overly complex and full of ambiguity. On top of that, high medical costs stop many people from seeking treatment after an injury,” said Abrams. “Spot makes it simpler for more people to get coverage in the moments in time they need it most, so they can live life knowing they’re protected if things go wrong. And I couldn't be more excited to support the company’s mission.”
Spot recently announced it raised $33 million in Series A funding, led by Ensemble VC. The company is using the capital to ramp up their strategic partnership approach and continue building an amazing digital experience for partners and their customers.
Spot is the first company to fundamentally change the way health coverage is distributed across the US. Instead of navigating complex and comprehensive health plans, customers can buy injury coverage through Spot’s partners when they sign up for their activities or memberships. Tens of millions of people will now have access to simpler, more affordable coverage that allows them to live life to the fullest without the fear of impending medical bills.
